Hi Huntling,
You are supposed to be emerging any day now, so we have been doing the typical things parents do to prepare for an infant: get out the car seat, pack a hospital bag, arrange care for your big brother, and begin a major remodeling project. The remodeling we will get to some other time. However, on Saturday we got to test out all our preparations.
We failed pretty miserably.
The plan for the event is to have your grandparents watch your brother, and me to take your Mommy to the hospital. No big deal, right? Your grandparents live just down the road, and the hospital is only a couple miles away. However, on Saturday your Mommy started feeling like it might be Go Time, so I whipped out the phone to call the Grandparents. No dice, they are at a movie. OK. So then, Mommy will drive herself to the hospital, and I will come meet her after I find someone to watch Sam. She hops in the car, which promptly won't start. Oh right, we had been meaning to replace that battery. So, yank the carseat out, let Mommy take the other car, and Sammy and I spent some good bonding time jump-starting a Prius, then going to the dealership for a battery replacement.
Odds are, you would have been born by the time I actually made it to the hospital. This was not an encouraging test. However, I'm looking at it like a shakedown run. The grandparents are on high alert now, and both cars are ready to go. I'm assuming that the real event will go much smoother. Make sure you give us some advance warning though, OK?
